Why What You Wear Matters
Have you ever stopped to consider what ingredients make up what you wear every day on your body? The most important of which we place very close to our reproductive organs, whether it be bras, underwear, or sleepwear? During my preconception journey last year, I found wearing organic cotton undergarments to be an essential piece of it.
How come? Because most mainstream undergarments are produced with hormone-disrupting chemicals. What are those chemicals? Phthalates and parabens are the most common. But manufacturing facilities that produce these garments have a wide array of chemicals floating in the air.
These chemicals can directly influence the endocrine system, reproductive processes, energy, metabolism and more. The list is really substantial, and I highly recommend entering the rabbit’s hole on this one.
During my preconception, pregnancy and postpartum journeys my top two choices for organic undergarments were from Knickey, now known as Subset, and Felina. I found these to be most comfortable, 99% organic materials, fun colors, and a variety of styles.
It may not be feasible for you to replace your entire wardrobe at this time, but at least start with the items that sit closest to the reproductive system and see if that helps no matter where you are in your journey.
Here’s to holistic,
